Meet the Doctors

Dr. Sonya L. Hallmark received her Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Dr. Hallmark graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2014.

Dr. Hallmark met her husband, Damon, in their hometown and they have been married almost 18 years.  They have two children. In her spare time Dr. Hallmark enjoys spending time with her family and playing tennis.

Dr. Hallmark began her career in dentistry in 1999 as an assistant. Later, she became a Registered Dental Hygienist.  She returned to school in 2006 to further her career in Dentistry. She is a member of Academy of General Dentistry, Alabama Dental Association, American Dental Association, and a member of the Cullman Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Kara Ward completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina with a Bachelors of Science in biology. In 2014 she graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

After dental school Dr. Ward completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at the Birmingham VA Hospital. During this year-long program she worked with medically and dentally complex patients and received advanced training in implant placement, oral surgery, prosthodontics, restorative and preventative dentistry.

Dr. Ward met her husband David when they worked in Yellowstone National Park and they married in 2010. They have two children. Dr. Ward enjoys spending time with her family and together they often go on hikes and like to travel.

Dr. Ward is active in the professional dental community as a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and American Dental Association.”
